Grand Prixes

Has anyone ever noticed that a disproportionately high percentage of agresssive and inconsiderate drivers have the same taste in vehicles? One car in particular seems to attract them: the Pontiac Grand Prix. Perhaps it's the name. Perhaps they think the x is pronounced. You could say they put the x in prix--ba dum bum*. Perhaps they think that driving a car named for a race means it must be a race car. If this description fits you, please know that one of these times that I find you filling my entire rear-view mirror, I might not be able to resist the urge to slam on the brakes for fun and profit, as long as it's not in one of those states with stupid no-fault insurance. Does the fact that I've thought about this scare you? It should**.

Please note that my observation that most bad drivers seem to drive this particular motor vehicle does not mean that most drivers of Grand Prickses are therefore bad drivers.

*I don't know why I included the bad-joke drumbeat. The joke only works on print anyway. Why are we so inconsistent about anglicizing foreign words anyway? We don't call a Caesar Salad a Kaiser Salad, though if we were following classical Latin pronunciation, we should be. It's Pricks, and it always will be.

**Not really.
